DAL Technical Academy was originally founded in 1983, with the main mission of providing continuous development and updating staff’s knowledge. The scope of the academy has evolved over the years to support all SUTRAC and other DAL Engineering Division companies’ continuous effort to offer unrivalled and comprehensive product and customer support.
DAL Technical Academy provides different training offerings for internal and external customers varying as per the discipline, and products. Continuous development and updating staff’s knowledge is a key role of the academy.
Proudly our extended scope covers Earthmoving, Automotive, Agricultural, Power Generation and Allied Product training, both on the mechanical and electrical sides; covering the theoretical and knowledge aspects beside the practical application.

Corporate Social Responsibilities
(CSR ) - OJT - Apprenticeship program
To provide pre-determined and often custom made training courses and “self-learning” courses for Service Technicians that address the identified Technical Training needs within the Department. This also includes (but is not limited to) providing new product training and “on-the-job” training / projects at workshop floor level which actively follows up Classroom type training, that address the identified Technical Training needs for :
→ Heavy equipment.
→ Power Generation.
→ Agricultural.
→ Locomotive
→ Allied.
→ Automotive.
This process/function includes assisting with initial selection of qualified technicians and ongoing skills
assessment audits.
The operators’ school is a key programme provided by DAL Technical Academy with the aim of supplying the market with highly competent and skilled operators for Cat®
Heavy Machinery.
The training provided to the trainees in order to become certified operators is designed to make sure that operator is fully aware of the machine parts and its functionality.
This effort started as a joint program between our Training Centre and Rental & Used department, combining the efforts to have strong skills and knowledge curriculum, blended with operation and applicaton practices. The Candidates trained for the first six months, through an extensive and fast track curriculum that includes both the knowledge and skills aspects as well as the hands-on practice on the iron at different sites, under close supervision of both departments, by structured assessment and evaluation..

DAL Technical Academy offers a range of technical training courses and modules targeted to different sectors, one of the most important being customer training.
Customer training is created with the customer needs first in mind. We recognize that purchasing the equipment is the first step in a journey of success, that’s why to help our customers utilise Cat equipment and gain the maximum possible productivity we provide them with comprehensive courses depending on their requirements, from operators to technicians and engineers training.
a) The training dept will coordinate and administer Scheduled Customer Seminars, providing the sessions, ensuring materials and instructors are available.
b) From time to time and in co-ordination with the Sales & PSSR Departments we deliver Customer seminars &/or training that are individually packaged and delivered to suite Caterpillar customers & the target audience attending.
Selecting, organizing, administering for and delivering Customers to the seminars will be the responsibility of the respective Sales Departments & PSSR requesting the Seminar &/or Customer training. And Administration department will assist in arranging accommodation, meals & transportation, as per the requirement.
Scheduled Customer training, providing the sessions, ensuring materials and instructors are available.
→ Customer Seminars – 2 days.
→ Customer PM courses – 3 to 5 days.
→ Operators Training – 5 – 10 days
→ Technical Training for Reps.
To provide predetermined and often Custom made training courses designed to cover basic product orientation, basic application, basic system functions, basic nomenclature and documentation, basic maintenance practices, PDI and Delivery procedures (for Sales Admin engineers), machine/engine operation. Self-learning courses will be administered by the respective Departments with records passed to and kept by us.
For Product Support Sales Representatives (PSSR’s); rudimentary training on machine and engine inspection techniques, Lubricants, Technical literature orientation, CSA’s etc. will also be provided.
→ Soft Skills and Personal Development for Reps.
To provide a development program for new and existing Sales Representatives and Customer contact people (including Service Dept) designed to address both the Company strategic requirements for Representatives’ skills development and also the requirements of the individual in improving professional performance in his/her position of Customer contact.
Scheduled, planned & organized training program through batches for the following:
→ University students – 15 – 30 days.
→ VTR students – 30 – 60 days.
→ VTR Teachers Train the Trainer – 15 – 30 days.
→ Fresh graduated students – 15 – 30 days.
→ Student training visits – 1 – 2 days.
→ KICS high secondary Students – 5 – 10 days.
The Apprenticeship program is DAL Technical Academy’s flagship program where fair opportunities are provided for young talented graduates holding a BSc or a Diploma from technical disciplines (Mechanical, Agricultural or Electrical).
The program is designed to attract fresh graduates who are keen to develop their hands-on skills, eager to master the technical knowledge and experience to pursue a career in service engineering.
Apprentice Development – Service Engineers (24 months) .
→ Starting from the very beginning of the selection and induction process for graduate engineers (Bsc Fresh graduated engineers & Diploma Fresh graduated engineers), provide and deliver a Training Program that ensures successful completion after 3-4 years of Senior Service Analysts as well as Level 1 , 2 and 3 Service Engineers .
This will be achieved with the position of a mentor figure or Apprentice Master who will oversee and coordinate all facets of the individuals development as they progress throughout the program.
Apprentice/Technician Development – VTR ( 09 months) :
Focusing on Apprenticeship programs, the aim is to ensure having a good base for level 1 technician in one year time & to enable fast tracking the apprentice development across the other higher levels.
