History
Established in 1952, SUTRAC was the first of what would go on to become Sudan’s largest and most diversified conglomerate.
SUTRAC remained throughout the years a cornerstone in the DAL Group, personifying the perfect enterprise, always growing and expanding to acquire and develop its brands.

Pioneering In Technology Adaptation
It all started in 1986, with the creation of the IT department headed by Mr.Hatim Bek, its mission was to transform all the systems within the company replacing manual labour and introducing computing systems.
With cutting-edge systems from IBM, and software designed by Caterpillar, and integrated by Mr. Bek, the company was up and running with the new system in no time. This makes SUTRAC the leading company in ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems in Sudan. Later on the systems were updated to IBM AS/400 which was the latest model by IBM, making it one of the first companies in the region to acquire and adapt the latest technologies through the years.
Today, a more sophisticated and upgraded system is running through the company in its headquarters and the various branches to ensure highest possible productivity.

Renewal Dealership Agreement
SUTRAC and Caterpillar sign a renewal dealership agreement in Geneva. This agreement reconnects the relationship between the two companies and strengthen this relationship further.
2017Madani Workshop
The building of a complete workshop for service is completed in Madani facility, to provide complete after-sale support for Caterpillar machinery. With an investment of over X million dollar put into its completion it was constructed up to Caterpillar standards.
1992Headquarters Relocation
The company headquarters are relocated to Kilo 8, which remains the headquarters till date. Initially the Kilo 8 facility was a branch of the company with the headquarters in Madani at the time.
1988New Technologies
All systems and processes in SUTRAC are overhauled with state-of-the-art technologies, and computing systems are introduced. This overhaul was made to reduce the manual labour accompanying daily tasks within the company.
1986DAL Agriculture
DAL Agriculture, which provides agricultural contracting services, is established and built on SUTRAC’s ties with the agricultural sector.
1984Starting SUTRAC Training
SUTRAC training is established in Madani, which would go on later to become DAL Technical Academy, with a main mission of providing SUTRAC and all other DAL Group companies with skilled technicians and engineers.
1982DAL Engineering
Mr. Osama Daoud Abdellatif becomes SUTRAC’s Sales Manager. The two companies are returned to full private ownership and the minority government share is bought out. Mr. Osama Daoud Abdellatif also changes the name of the company from Sayer & Colley to DAL Engineering (after the initials of his father).
1978Denationalisation
SUTRAC and Sayer & Colley are both nationalized. Within a year, the companies have been denationalised with the government retaining a minority share (the British partners are bought out).
1970SUTRAC Creation
Ten years after Sudan’s independence, Caterpillar decides to transfer the dealership to a Sudanese company, the original British owners retained a minority share. The contract is awarded to Mr. Daoud Abdellatif and his newly created Sudanese tractors Company (SUTRAC).
1966Sayer & Colley
Sayer & Colley was founded by two British businessmen. The company specializes in trading engineering products, such as bearings and belts, and is later awarded the Caterpillar dealership for Sudan.
